I do not conform, I transform

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is a joyful privilege to greet you from our community in San Pedro La Laguna, Solola, as we share with you what our Lord Jesus is doing at Colegio Bethel.

This year we have been blessed with a greater number of students in each level and it is exciting to see what the Lord is doing and plans to continue doing in the lives of the children and teens that He has placed under our care.

As we have shared with you on previous occasions, one of the problems that our students face is the strong peer pressure that pushes them to adopt lifestyles that are opposite to the values and principles of the kingdom of God. Drugs, alcohol, illicit sex, lack of effort at school, as well as no appreciation of how much an academic preparation will benefit them, are some of the situations they must deal with every day. On top of that, many of our students come from a dysfunctional family environment and therefore, are pushed to repeat the same mistakes their parents made. We must also mention the harmful influence social media, TV, and music brings on them.

For all these reasons, we believe the Lord has placed in our heart a theme to reinforce in the students’ hearts and minds the importance of living in God’s will and how to face these enemies that are destroying our children and youth.

Bethel School’s theme for 2019 is:

“I DO NOT CONFORM, I TRANSFORM”

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Our prayer is that each student and person working at Colegio Bethel may understand and accept the calling to become people of change, people that will bring a positive influence to the community and the town. That we may not think nor behave according to world’s standards, but that we may change our way of thinking to become more to the likeness of Christ, so that our conduct may be determined by the values of His kingdom. The result of this change will be seen in the classroom, at work, at home, in the society, and in our country. It will be seen in all the areas of our life for the glory of God and will be a blessing to our lives.

In this transforming process, it is a great blessing to count on the partnership of Proyecto Fe’s brothers and sisters, in Alaska and any other place in the world, and together experience this “metamorphosis” just as the larva turns into a butterfly, to fulfill the wonderful purpose that God has for our lives, and to know how the will of the Lord is always good, pleasant and perfect.

With love and in behalf of Colegio Bethel,

Pastor Jorge Ramírez
