Wellspring Mission Team – Feb 2025

Every time I go to San Pedro, it seems more difficult to leave! Once again we were blessed to serve the students and families of Colegio Bethel through Proyecto Fe. Our team of 13 arrived early on Saturday morning after flying all day and night on three Alaska Airlines flights. Now that Alaska Air flies to Guatemala City, it is possible to use airmiles for our trips and to check 2 free bags with Club 49, which makes it more economical to fly and to bring  totes filled with much needed supplies.

We successfully completed more than 17 projects, including a beautiful mural designed by Esther Kelly, which was a highlight of our trip. The mural was inspired by Jeremiah 17: 7-8, which reminds us that when our roots are firmly planted in God, we can be like a tree planted by the water which doesn’t fear, but keeps on yielding fruit, even in a drought. The completed mural contained more than 500 handprints, including Pastor Emilio and Sister Esther, the founders of Colegio Bethel, as well as the students and staff of the school, and our team members too (see the photos and video).  We served approximately 2000 snacks, completed 250 health checks for the upcoming dental team, built desks and chairs, updated computers, taught lessons from our children’s curriculum, prayed with students and their families, painted lines on the parking lot, installed locks on doors, painted 8 murals with scriptures, and led sports activities, to name a few.

For eight members of our team, it was their first time in Guatemala. Many of them said this experience was ‘life changing’, and asked how soon we can return. Pastor Emilio spoke to us and said how blessed Colegio Bethel was to have us there, sharing God’s love with the students, staff and their families. As we prepared to leave, we all agreed that we were also greatly blessed as our hearts were filled with all the love we could hold from our new friends and brothers and sisters at Colegio Bethel.  Some on our team were moved as they made connections with students and chose to become a sponsor for the very first time.

In closing, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Carla and Pam for making our experience so comfortable, enjoyable and memorable. God’s love shines through you as you serve the people of San Pedro and it is beautiful and inspiring. We love you very much and can’t wait to see you again.

Dios te bendiga siempre,
